Q&A with NBL Oz Gaming's Milo

Writer: Trenton ReedTrenton Reed

In tonight’s post, I caught up with Milo of NBL Oz Gaming to discuss his journey back into the NBA 2K League and more.

Q: Recently, you received a contract to play under NBL Oz Gaming for the 2024 season after taking part in the team’s tournament series in both game modes. How are you feeling as you prepare for next season and what does this moment mean for you?

A: “This moment means everything. To be drafted by Australia is a dream come true and has been a goal of mine this year. I have been playing in Australia tournaments and have been watching USA Pro-Am daily to prepare for next season.”

Q: After last appearing in the NBA 2K League during the 2021 season with PistonsGT, you now get to represent your home country of Australia. During your time away from the league, what have you worked on that helped you propel your way back into the league?

A: “Having the experience in 2021 with PistonsGT taught me not just things on the court, but off the court. Building my brand even bigger and off-the-court leadership. My hunger was bigger than before to get back in. I was a 6th man for PistonsGT but ended up starting 18 games at Power Forward that season. To get the chance this season to play Center, the position I play is something I’ve always wanted.”

Q: How excited are you to play under reigning Coach Of The Year Mootyy and what are some things that you are hoping to learn from him?

A: “Mootyy is a great and understanding coach. He is the Coach Of The Year for a reason. I’ve known Mootyy for about 4 years now and when he was on Lakers Gaming. We have bonded over the course of that time and him being an ex-professional Center In the 2KL, He will be able to bring his experiences and a bunch of knowledge to get me prepared for next season.”

Q: How excited are you to take the virtual hardwood with Ceez, Bagmotion, and Harry this upcoming season and what are some things that you guys want to accomplish?

A: “Harry, Bag, and Ceez are amazing players. Looking to build a great culture there. Everyone always has each other's backs. I want to get chemistry as soon as possible with the guys so we can be ready by the time the season kicks off. My Main goal is to win a championship.”

Q: What’s the most difficult part of being an international player in the NBA 2K League?

A: “I feel staying in the league long term can be difficult for international players as some may be risks due to visas. I think getting experience is what international players need. A lot of players get there late due to visas so that can be a huge issue, but I feel it’s going to get better as when myself, Mario, and Gooner went, it was during COVID so the process is a lot quicker now.”

Q: What would you define as a successful 2024 season with the Roos?

A: “Obviously winning is the priority. But for me, the goal is to improve from the 2021 season, and I feel with this roster so far, we will have a great season ahead.”

Q: What advice would you offer to other international players trying to make their way into the NBA 2K League?

A: “A piece of advice would be if you truly want to be in the league you need to grow a profile off the court. Everyone in the draft pool has stick skill. You need to be able to offer an organization something that the next prospect can’t. Never giving up and a hard work ethic will get you there. My help is always there, people just need to ask.”

Q: Which team in the league are you looking forward to playing most this season and why?

A: “DUX Gaming because they are a team I never got to play because they entered in season 5 of the NBA 2K League.”

Q: If you were able to create a starting five of current or former NBA 2K League players, who would your starting five be?

A: “The WizardsDG starting lineup that won the two championships back-to-back was an amazing team. Also, another could be CB13, ShiftyKai, Crush, NewDini, and Ria.”

Q: As NBL Oz Gaming heads into next season, it is the first time in NBA 2K League history that two Australians will be on the same team together. What does it mean to you to share this historical milestone with Harry?

A: “I’m excited to team with another Australian in Harry. He is a great player & I think it’s great to see two international players on the same team. I hope to see more of this happen in the future because there is some great talent out there outside the United States.”
