Q&A with NBL Oz Gaming's Bagmotion

Writer: Trenton ReedTrenton Reed

Updated: Oct 22, 2023

In today’s post, I caught up with Bagmotion of NBL Oz Gaming to discuss his recent trade to the roos from Pistons GT and more.

Q: Recently, you were acquired by NBL Oz Gaming in a trade with Pistons GT. What was that process like for you and how excited are you to start this new chapter with the roos?

A: The process has been exciting. I am extremely ready for this new chapter of my career and very happy to be here in the NBL. I appreciate the Pistons, everyone, and the fanbase for the last 2 seasons!”

Q: What advice would you offer to aspiring NBA 2K League prospects looking to make their way into the league for the 2024 season?

A: “Some advice I would offer for prospects coming into the 2024 season is to be hard working, respect your craft, and most importantly show that you are a good person and show how you can bring value to an organization, not just as a gaming athlete, but characteristics as a person as well.”

Q: Which NBA 2K League team are you looking forward to facing the most next season and why?

A: “I really want to play Pistons GT. It’s a great situation, we have separated on good terms, and playing against former teammates and also having the opportunity to show them what's going to happen is something I’m looking forward to.”

Q: After your NBA 2K League career as a player concludes, do you see yourself being a Head Coach or General manager at some point down the line?

A: “I could really see myself being a Head Coach. I try to value the small things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. I do the boxing out, the fake cuts to make the pick-and-roll defender hesitate, the game planning, etc. So it fits me and I would love the opportunity.”

Q: NBL Oz Gaming picks at number 15 and number 19 in the 2024 NBA 2K League Draft. What are you looking for from your future teammates headed into next season?

A: “What I’m looking for in my future teammates Is hard-working people and dedicated and passionate about the 3v3 and 5v5 game mode and constantly getting better.”

Q: How excited are you to play under Head Coach “Mootyy” next season and what sets him apart from other NBA 2K League coaches?

A: “I’m extremely excited to play under coach Mootyy. He just won Coach Of The Year. He is an amazing person and an amazing coach. He pays attention to detail and he makes sure everyone is on the same page on and off the court. He is genuine and being a former player in the league, he knows actual stuff about the game.”

Q: Recently, NBL Oz Gaming also acquired Ceez from Hawks Talon GC. How excited are you to join Harry and Ceez this year and what are your expectations for the season?

A: “I’m very excited to play with Harry and Ceez. Having a great scoring guard in 3v3 and 5v5. With 3v3 being the kickstart of the season, us being on the court and putting our mindsets together we can do great things. Harry is a great 2k player and Australian native who has NBA 2K League finals experience. He can dribble, catch and shoot and play defense. He is going to take a huge step in his second season.”

Q: What drives you to be great?

A: “What drives me to be great is my daughter. I want to be in a situation where I can financially provide for her. I'm playing for my legacy. I want to be the greatest lockdown and I want to win. I want to connect and grow my opportunities and help as many people as I can. I want to build connections and have a solidified legacy, not only as a player, but as a person.”

Q: What was one of your biggest weaknesses last season that you are looking to improve upon this season?

A: “One of my biggest weaknesses last season was my off-ball defense. It has gotten better, but being in Oz Gaming and having Coach Mootyy, he will be able to help me a lot with that.”

Q: What can NBL Oz Gaming fans expect from you this season?

A: “Oz Gaming fans can expect me to be extremely passionate about Australia as if that’s my country. I’m extremely excited to represent and I love the fan base of Oz as they have been showing me love in my stream during this off-season.”

Q: Do you have any final thoughts as we wrap up this Q&A?

A: “Final thoughts I have I wanna say I can’t wait for this upcoming season. A lot of players in the league and teams are counting us out as 3v3 and 5v5 contenders because Oz gaming lost 4 players in the offseason. This isn’t rebuild mode, this is a fresh start and a new chapter for all of us. We are and will be ready to put in that work.”
