In today’s post, I caught up with Jyden to discuss his recent trade from NBL Oz Gaming to 76ers GC and more.
Q: Recently, you were traded from NBL Oz Gaming to 76ers GC. What was that process like for you and how excited are you to take the court with Dre, Gradient, DT, and DJ this season?
A: “My trade from NBL Oz Gaming was heartbreaking regardless of how I felt. I didn't like the direction the team was headed in and I wanted to play for a contender. I gave 3 options and 76ers GC was one of them. Having the assets made it a no-brainer for both sides... well all three. As far as taking the court with Dre, I can't wait to play with one of the top Point Guards in the NBA 2K League. If you look at the guards I've played with, none of them are as accomplished as Dre and I think we'll have great chemistry early and give teams problems as a backcourt. Gradient was just an All-Star two seasons ago and I know with the right group of guys around him, he can hit that level again. In my opinion, DT has been the best Power Forward in the league since I came in. I have a tremendous amount of respect for his game and what he brings off the court. DJ is a top center in this league as well, maybe the best offensive center the league has. I was top 3 in assists and most of them came from Sick One last season. I know with DJ that will stay the same and we'll have great PnR chemistry.”
Q: After falling in the 5v5 finals versus Warriors Gaming Squad last season, what are some things that you took away from that loss and how will that experience help you moving forward?
A: “My loss to WGS was definitely heartbreaking and it showed there was still many flaws in my game that I look to improve on this off-season. I think getting back to the finals is the only thing on my mind this season and whatever comes with it. I have the experience playing on the highest stage possible in this league and I can offer that to teammates on the keys to success that comes with making it that far. Just getting over the hump and making it back would mean everything to me.”
Q: What does it mean to you to win Most Improved Player for your performance throughout the 2023 season?
A: “The MIP award is kind of frowned upon and just looked at as a money award to people. To me, the MIP award was a trophy of improvement that I made throughout the season, not only as a player but as a person through leadership qualities, how I acted during my day-to-day activities, and my nonchalant attitude was put away for guys that brought a competitive fire out of me that was never tapped into. I appreciate the award especially after not being brought back and being doubted over and over in this league. I feel as if it cemented me as one of the best shooting guards in the world and maybe it'll bring me the same success it brought Seese who won it and then won the Championship.”
Q: Coming into next season with 76ers GC, what area of your game are you looking to take the biggest leap in?
A: “Jeff and I have had conversations on what I need to work on and I've been using this pre-draft as a way to improve. I don't wanna disclose too much, but I think I could be a better break runner as an example. I'm looking for that as an area of awareness to improve myself on.”
Q: Which team do you think will give you the toughest challenge throughout pre-draft and why?
A: “There’s multiple teams to give thoughts on that. Breakout Gaming would be the first considering they play the game the most and always have talented players. Zero Gaming is another with a lot of league players and a great coaching staff behind them. Lastly, probably Bodega Cats with Unguardable, Malik, Dawsix, Seese, and Dayfri... I mean do I need to say why?”
Q: If you had to give NBA 2K24 a rating, how would you rate the game?
A: “I personally have some things I'd changed with 2K24 but they've given this game a lot of effort and as a consumer can I really be upset at that? I think this game is an 8 with plucks being patched and limitless it could be easily 10.”
Q: How excited are you to take the court with Kapp, Jayventers, Idris, and RawTalentz this pre-draft and what are you guys expecting to accomplish as a team?
A: “My pre-draft team is exciting to me, mostly because I don't get to play with the guys ever besides pre-draft and they are always fun to play with. Kapp brings the floor general aspect of the game and has already taught me some minor things to improve my game. Jayvee is an up-and-coming lockdown who has the two-way ability to make himself one of the best lockdowns this pre-draft. Idris is a former 2K League champion and is always skilled and talented at the game but teams never keep their eyes on him because of a fake stigma. Raw is literally one of the best centers to ever touch Pro-Am, if he wasn't so nonchalant the guy could easily be in the 2KL with his two-way ability. As a team Kapp and I want to see our frontcourt get in, but that comes with a lot of winning and a stage appearance at UPA. Hopefully we can win it all as a team.”
Q: What are your expectations for 76ers GC this season?
A: “My expectations with 76ersGC are simple... A 5v5 Championship. That doesn't limit us to the 3v3 championship and banner money throughout but I really do believe this is a championship or bust team regardless.”
Q: As one of the most decorated coaches the NBA 2K League has, how excited are you to play for Head Coach Jeff Terrell this season?
A: “Jeff's teams always make money and are always put together well and talented. I'm looking forward to a lot of structure and a true winning environment from top to bottom. I always saw him as a great 2KL coach, but he’s a great person off the game as well. Jeff and I have a unique relationship together and it will be shown this year.”
Q: What can 76ers GC fans expect from you this season?
A: “76ers GC fans can expect the same winning experience but this time with a little more fun. I bring a unique energy and personality that not many have seen on this team before. You'll be happy with how much winning we'll bring this team.”
Q: Do you have any final thoughts as we wrap up this Q&A?
A: Not much to say that I feel as if I didn't cover but S/O anyone reading this and thank you for reading this Q&A with Trenton. He is the GOAT and always has great content on all things 2K related. Thank you so much. Let my boy know if you enjoyed this and LEAVE YOUR VODS UP FOR HIM!!!!
